To day was the last day we fed the animals in the old wings in the water exhibit at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. The exhibit will be drained, rebuilt and remodeled to open next June as the Blacktip Reef. Featuring Blacktip Reef Sharks. I cannot wait to dive it. From the plans it will be an incredible exhibit. Calypso the Green Sea turtle and Zeke and Zoe our Zebra sharks will come bake to the new exhibit as well as many more sharks and fish.
I have completed the site for my new diving training and coaching company, Reflex Diving. The address is Reflexdiving.com. The name comes from the Mammalian Dive Reflex which slows the heart rate and conserves oxygen use in the body when it is breath holding under water. This reflex is engaged by freedivers to push the limits of the human body. I offer snorkel and SCUBA instruction and freediving safety supervision. I also provide SCUBA coaching which is very hard to find at your local dive shops. coaching will improve your position, trim, kicking and breathing. Invest time in your diving and you will get more out of that tank and surface less fatigued.
My ear is doing much better now, still not diving for the next week. It will be hard to stand on the side and watch the rest of my National Aquarium dive team. I am doing a half day any way as my step daughter Lauren has her graduation party in the afternoon.
I finished my first video of diving at the National Aquarium in Baltimore.
We are in the News
The reporter did a day in the life of a National Aquarium Volunteer Diver. I am in it 2 quick times. 1. In the background getting my gear on. 2. Holding the feed bag while the Moray “Felix” is being fed.
